In-person Orton-Gillingham (O-G) tutoring is available at my home office in Trumbull, CT. Additionally, online O-G tutoring sessions can be conducted via Zoom. Tutoring sessions are scheduled at a minimum of twice weekly for 45 minutes.
The Orton-Gillingham approach is a structured, multi-sensory method of teaching spelling, reading, and written expression. This method proves beneficial for all students, especially those who struggle with reading due to language-based learning disabilities, such as dyslexia. As a dyslexia specialist and structured literacy specialist, I focus on the unique needs of each learner. For more information about the O-G approach, please visit the Orton-Gillingham Academy.
"You have been the rock we have leaned on for 6 years for all our boys. I am so thankful for everything you have done for us as a family. I love your positive spirit and fierce attitude, you truly are amazing and I’m so thankful. I don't think you realize the incredible impact you have had in so many children's lives!"
"You have enriched his life with your good cheer and encouragement and have helped him gain so much confidence. We will be forever grateful for the impact on his reading and your thoughtful and loving tutoring!"
"Thank YOU for so many wonderful years! You have played a prominent role in getting our kids the help they need, and we are forever grateful for you. We definitely wouldn't have sought diagnoses, services and school accommodations as early as we did if it hadn't been for your guidance and support. And, I know that we are only one of the many, many lives that you have touched. "
"Kara you are the BEST! When no private school would take him -- you did. To see him finally able to read his favorite comic books after years of disappointment, we are just so grateful."
"Remember when he used to hide under the table at school during reading? Guess who just read aloud at Boy Scouts this weekend in front of a huge crowd??? Tears and THANK YOU!"
"Our daughter went from being in danger of retention in first grade to scoring in the 98th percentile for reading on the GA milestones test in 4th grade. The only intervention we invested in was Kara's O-G tutoring twice a week for 30 months. We cannot recommend Kara enough."
